Letter to Tampa Tribune Aug. 19, 2005

Clausewitz of Skull and Bones, MacArthur of Arbusto, Wellington of Waco, Commander-In-Sleep Patton of Kennebunkport and Robert E. Lee of the Beltway. These are the phrases Daniel Ruth used to describe George W. Bush in his Tampa Tribune column of August 19, 2005.

In recent months Ruth has used similar, but more robust language, to rail against radio talk show hosts Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. All three of these men have highly successful radio programs that are broadcast nationwide. Meanwhile, Ruth has a radio talk show program on a local radio station on Saturday morning. His program has absolutely no ratings. There wouldn't be any professional envy involved in his disdain for his competition would there? Naaah!! Ruth is much too liberal and loving to be envious of successful people--or is he?

The Tribune (and Ruth) describes Ruth's harangues as merely a writing style. But it is obvious that it is much more than a writing style. It is a mask for a man who truly hates and despises those people that with whom he disagrees. His anger is manifested in print under the aegis of the Tampa Tribune.

Ruth clearly deals in hate and may be fomenting retribution in the minds of some of his more unstable readers and listeners. Sounds far-fetched? Well, people with high levels of frustration, such as Ruth, have been known to use drastic methods to bring harm to their imagined enemies! Responsibility for the acts of retribution on Ruth's imagined enemies performed by someone as a result of Ruth's vitriol will, also, accrue to the Tampa Tribune.

The Tribune might be well advised to consider psychiatric evaluation of Ruth who is clearly unstable and dangerous.

You don't realize how close you are to the truth. I am in the analysis field and I have always suspected that Ruth is somewhat psychotic. It it more specifically called "benign psychosis". He feels secure in his Tribune environment to the point where he feels he can lash out with little consequence. This is why you hardly ever see him making public appearances. His type can become a "malignant psychotic" if forced out into the open. He could become dangerous but in his case it probably isn't likely because of his basic insecurity and cowardice.

Hey you "cracker colonels of calumny"... What is this "he never makes public appearances" stuff? He's got a radio show, he appears very frequently on TV, and I'll bet if you contacted him or the Trib it would turn out that he does make an occaisional appearance, when asked (and probably when it would fit in his sked).

Frankly, when I first read Ruth I was a Ruth hater too. He seemed too cynical. But as I read on, more and more I started noticing that, ugh, he was right. He gets bitter and sarcastic about all the right things.

Ofcourse if your style of media is slightly to the right of Hitler, if you think Bush is a wise leader, honest in all his actions as a president, and surrounded by dedicated public servants, then I guess you WOULD have a problem with truth telling.

So you call TBR’s radio show a public appearance? TBR locked up in a studio makes it a public appearance? The county lockup should have the security that WFLA has in place. And I suppose the Tampa Tribune is open to the public. You see TBR is very easy to read. It’s like Tonto-g said, he was the fat kid in school who picked on the little kids. Then when some little kid laid some knuckles on his nose ole TBR found it best to retreat to more secure places and use name calling as his weapon. Calling people names face-to-face could get a fellow hurt.

The Titty Baby’s screeds are beyond cynicism. They are tantrums that worked when he used them on his mommy. He grew up thinking his whims were the cure-all for societal problems because his mommy catered to him. He is a true sociopath, albeit benign.

BTW, the “J” in Daniel J. Ruth wouldn’t stand for John would it, John? I’m wondering how things are on Rome Avenue.

LOL. Tonto-g, I think you smoked a rat out of his hole. A fat rat that wears suspenders and glasses. This kind of rat sneaks out of his hole and gnarls his cigarette stained teeth at the cat and then scampers back to his hole. In this case the the hole is his cubie down at the Trib.
